The Dark Roast:
A Story Brewed in Space

Cocooned in the lush greens of Chaloda village, this 1,500 sq. ft. farmhouse was designed as a weekend getaway and soon became a full-time family haven during the pandemic. Surrounded by nature, the home nurtures wellness, slowness, and spontaneity. Cycling trails, reading corners, music by the indoor fountain, alfresco meals, and bonfire evenings became part of the family’s everyday rhythm.

Designed across two levels, the ground floor hosts shared living spaces while private bedrooms sit above — all seamlessly blending with the outdoors. Tactile, sensorial design is at the heart of the home. Natural materials like cane, wood, and local stone are used throughout — with antique finds and natural finishes celebrating regional craftsmanship.

What began as an interior project grew into full landscape design — a testament to the clients' trust in our process and our love for nature. Within months of handover, they began spotting birds never before seen in the area. The land was healing. Every material was sourced within a 5 km radius, making the build not only deeply local, but also a creative challenge due to the tight palette. Minimal yet rooted, this farmhouse stands as a timeless refuge — a personal landscape of calm, connection, and belonging.
